Wanna know the best way to get genuine laughs + smiles?
Prompts! Prompting is all about creating real, genuine, and authentic moments. When we prompt our couples, we cue them to a type of movement, whereas when we pose our couples we place them a more fixed, static position.
Some are interactive and more physical, some are intimate and sweet, and the rest are just down right silly! Try using these 5 posing prompts during your next couples session or engagement session to spice up your routine and to make your clients feel more comfortable during the shoot!
1. Bump Hips
I love starting with this one! Prompts are all about movement, and this one sparks just that.
Have your couple hold hands, put their arms around each other, or link elbows and do big hip bumps while they walk towards and away from you.
2. Airplane
Fly each other like an airplane!
I like to start by telling the couple to stand back to belly and grasp each others’ hands at their sides. Then, slowly “airplane” their arms together for a few moments and then wrap each other up into a big arm pretzel. Keep repeating this over and over with a few variations!
3. Airport Reunion
This one follows the airplane prompt extremely well!
Tell your couple that they are the two lead actors in a cheesy rom-com and this scene is when the reunite after months of not seeing each other! Start by having them stand at least 10 ft. apart and run towards each other like the wild, passionate couple they are! Include variations of one person lifting the other up and twirling each other around in circles and so on.
4. Piggy Back Ride
Give your partner the bounciest piggy back ride ever!
I also like to mix this up by telling the one giving the piggyback ride to start spinning in circles, and then change directions. If they are not dizzy, then they are not going fast enough! Right after spinning around, have them both on the ground and hold hands as they skip + run towards the camera. This one is a foolproof way to guarantee those fun, playful action shots!
5. Rapid Fire Kisses
I like using this one for quieter moments. You can have them sitting or standing for this one, but make sure they are wrapped up in one another.
I like to start off having them stand belly to belly and tell one of them to kiss their most favorite part of their partner’s face. Then, after giving each of them a chance to do so, I’ll have then turn back to belly and add in some more movement with rapid fire kisses!
Tell the person in the back to give their partner kisses as fast as they possibly can. Start with kisses on top of their head and have them work their way down to their temple and then their shoulder and back up again!
